Why is Halloween called Samhain

· Samhain (pronounced approximately SOW-in) was a Gaelic festival marking the end of harvest and the beginning of winter. It was associated with the Otherworld and supernatural encounters.

· All Hallows' Day (All Saints' Day) became a Christian observance on November 1.

· All Hallows' Eve, October 31, meant the evening before All Saints' Day.

· Over time, All Hallows' Eve became Hallowe'en, then Halloween.

Wednesday Night Live — Opening Thoughts

1. SAMHAIN — THE TURNING OF THE YEAR

End of harvest, beginning of winter.
The natural world prepares to rest.
The ancient Celts associated this time with the Otherworld.

2. THE FALLING LEAVES

When the leaves fall, we can suddenly see through the trees.
What was hidden hasn't moved.
It was there all along. Only our ability to see it changed.

3. WHAT IS THE VEIL?

Is it really a barrier between worlds?
Or is it a limitation of our physical perception?
In mediumship, communication can feel like moving through something dense.

4. THE ILLUSION OF SEPARATION

Perhaps our loved ones aren't far away.
Perhaps physical and spiritual awareness are different ways of experiencing the same Life.
What if separation itself is the illusion?

5. WHY SAMHAIN?

Nature grows quiet.
We become more aware of endings, memories, and those who have passed.
Perhaps the season changes our awareness, not the spirit world.

6. THE QUESTION

What if the veil doesn't grow thinner? What if we simply begin to see through it?

Halloween Weekend!

It's hard to believe we're already approaching the halfway point of the Texas Renaissance Festival! Time has flown by, and the fair has been going really well.

Seeing Through Duality

Upcoming Class

We are living in a time when duality appears to be running rampant. “We/they” thinking surrounds us, pulling us toward judgment, fear, separation, and the belief that one side must be defeated before peace can exist.

In this class, Rev. Lorana Walsh draws upon New Thought principles, her book Duality Is the Illusion, her personal spiritual journey, and the messages she has received from Spirit to explore why duality exists and how it operates in our lives.

We will look at the ways separation expresses through our relationships, our beliefs, our politics, our addictions, and the divisions within ourselves.

The purpose is not to deny differences or ignore what is happening in the world. It is to learn how to remain centered within it, recognize the greater wholeness that holds both sides, and respond from spiritual truth rather than fear.

This class is both an introduction to New Thought and a deeper invitation for those already walking this path. Together, we will explore how seeing through duality can help us reclaim our balance, our spiritual authority, and our awareness of the One Life moving through all things.

This 10-week Zoom class begins Wednesday, January 6, 2027, at 7 p.m. Eastern Time and will meet every Wednesday evening for 10 weeks. The cost is $20 per class or $175 when paid in full in advance.

Class size is limited to 12 participants to allow time for meaningful conversation, personal reflection, and shared exploration. Advance registration is required.
